Logistics characteristics and global trade adaptability of textile printing adhesives

Jul 02, 2025

In the context of global trade, textile printing adhesives are key materials for the processing of clothing, home textiles and industrial fabrics. Their logistics properties directly affect supply chain efficiency and cost control. Understanding the transportation characteristics of such products is particularly important for companies engaged in international procurement or distribution.

In terms of physical form, textile printing adhesives are mostly liquid or paste-like, and a few are powder or solid particles. Liquid products are usually transported in IBC barrels, plastic barrels or tank containers, and special attention should be paid to sealing and leak-proof design. Paste products may need to be heated to maintain fluidity due to their high viscosity, which puts additional requirements on cold chain or temperature-controlled transportation. Powder products need to be packaged in moisture-proof packaging to avoid moisture absorption and agglomeration that affects performance.

Chemical stability is the core consideration in the logistics link. Most adhesives contain solvents or active ingredients and need to avoid high temperature and strong oxidizing environments. Some products are corrosive to metal containers and need to be packaged in polyethylene or stainless steel instead. In the United Nations dangerous goods classification, some highly volatile adhesives may be classified as Class 3 flammable liquids. When transporting, they must comply with the IMDG Code or ADR regulations, be marked with fire prevention signs and have limited space.

In terms of warehousing and distribution, adhesives need to be stored in a cool and ventilated place, away from fire sources and direct sunlight. It is recommended to choose constant temperature space for sea transportation, and anti-dumping fixing devices are required for land transportation. Some countries require the provision of MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) and GHS labels, and importers need to confirm the destination regulations in advance.

In recent years, the popularity of environmentally friendly water-based adhesives has reduced transportation risks. This type of product has a high flash point and is non-toxic. It can be transported as ordinary goods, greatly simplifying the customs clearance process. However, it is necessary to pay attention to its low-temperature solidification characteristics. Antifreeze or preheating equipment must be added for winter transportation.

Mastering the logistics characteristics of textile printing adhesives can not only optimize transportation plans, but also reduce the risk of cargo damage. As the global textile industry transforms towards sustainability, low-energy, easy-to-transport environmentally friendly adhesives will become the first choice for the international supply chain.
