Methods and key measures to improve water-based plastic paint
I. Substrate surface pretreatment
Cleaning and decontamination: Ensure that the substrate surface is free of oil, dust and other pollutants to avoid affecting the bonding of the coating.
II. Surface modification:
1 Sandblast, corona or flame treat smooth substrates (such as PP, EPDM and other low surface energy materials) to increase surface roughness and polar functional groups.
2 Use special primers (such as PP treatment agents or adhesion promoters) to improve the bonding between the substrate and the coating through chemical bonding.
III. Coating formula adjustment
Film-forming agent optimization: Adjust the type and amount of film-forming agents, shorten the film-forming time, reduce the internal stress caused by solvent residues, and enhance the density and adhesion of the paint film.
Wetting agent selection: Add surface wetting agents (such as propylene glycol monobutyl ether) to reduce the surface tension of the coating and improve the wetting ability of low surface energy substrates.
IV. Adhesion promoter: Add chlorinated polyolefin (CPO) or halogen-free promoter (such as EH801J) to the coating to directly enhance the polar bonding between the coating and materials such as PP/EPDM.
V. Construction process control
1. Paint film thickness management: Avoid excessively thick coating resulting in cohesion greater than adhesion. It is recommended to apply thin layers and control the total thickness.
2. Optimization of curing conditions: Adjust the film forming temperature and time according to the characteristics of the resin to ensure that the solvent is fully volatilized and the coating is uniformly cured.
Through the above methods, the adhesion problem of water-based plastic paint on low surface energy materials (such as PP, etc.) can be systematically solved to ensure the durability and functionality of the coating.
